Projects Update for March 2024!

Image
Hey, everyone! As we start heading into spring, I'd like to recap some important developments from last year and get you up to speed on what's coming down the pipe! First and foremost, the prequel to my Gray Spirits urban fantasy series, Prelude of a Guardian Angel , is out and available for free to all newsletter subscribers! The story picks up about eight years before the start of Memoirs of a Household Demon and centers on the angel Sarai. Having shed her elderly and decrepit mortal body, Sarai has now sworn to protect her teenage granddaughter, Daniela, from the demonic forces of Hell invisibly ravaging the human world. As Daniela begins her senior year of high school, new enemies and temptations lie in wait, threatening to sever the bond between Sarai and her granddaughter. Will Sarai be able to protect Daniela's soul, or will she be lost to the darkness forever? If you like stories with action, humor and plenty of heart, don't miss your chance to give this a rea...

Updates for July and August

Image
Hey, everybody! It's been a while since my last post, but that's because I've been hard at work on a couple of exciting announcements! First up, I'm about to release the prequel for my urban fantasy novel, Memoirs of a Household Demon ! That's right, I've taken a hiatus from my normally scheduled program of writing short stories to give you a proper introduction into the world of spirits! Set approximately eight years before the start of the main story, it follows the guardian angel Sarai as her granddaughter and mortal charge, Daniela, begins her senior year of high school. New friends and enemies await, prepping the stage for an epic clash between light and darkness. Early reviews are looking great, so if you like heartfelt, action-packed stories with plenty of humor, this should be a fun read. The full e-book reveal should be ready to drop next week, and as newsletter subscribers, you'll be the first ones to get free and exclusive access. Which brings me ...

Can you handle The Undeniable Truth?

Image
It’s that time again! We’ve got another short story coming down the pipe! I’d like to present The Undeniable Truth ! We live in a very, shall we say, interesting time. Technology has been advancing at a staggering rate, and with it, a greater influence on our perception of reality. Movies have been able to bring to life incredible new worlds, both alien and familiar, making things like spaceships and exploding planets look convincingly real. Then you’ve got things like Photoshop, voice synthesizers and deepfake technology to alter any kind of electronic recording you can imagine, making reality almost indistinguishable from fiction. It can miraculously de-age Mark Hamill into a seemingly youthful Luke Skywalker or even resurrect the dead by graphically putting the late Carrie Fisher’s face on a totally different actress’ body.  A miracle of modern science? Or is it an omen of truth’s impending demise? Believing in things we haven’t seen has always been a challenge for humanity,...

Status Update! April 2023

Image
Hey, everybody! The last few months have been pretty hectic, so I think we’re well overdue for a status report! First up, let’s talk about my novels and where they’re at in the creation process. I spent most of January and February finishing up the edits for Memoirs of a Household Demon . My editor did an awesome job helping me trim down the overall word count without doing any significant damage to the narrative as a whole. This came as a great relief to me since I was worried that I’d lose a lot of the humor and character development that I’d fallen in love with over the course of writing the story. Now that I’m down to 110,000 words, we should be within the reasonable limit to explore traditional publishing options. I’ve started querying agents and hopefully we’ll be hearing some good news sometime soon! (Prayers appreciated.)  Going back and forth with my editor on Memoirs was such a revelatory experience. I learned a metric crap-ton about all of my bad habits, how to fix th...

Get Ready for When It Rains!

Image
Money. Moolah. Lettuce. Cheddar. Dough. It goes by many names, but what exactly is it? Food on the table? A roof over your head? Something to line your pockets or the result of a hard day’s work? Opinions may vary, but whether we like it or not, there’s one thing the vast majority of us can agree—it’s all about the Benjamins.  From the flick of a light switch to the very shoes on our feet, we’re burning it constantly, our lives dependent on its precious fuel. Imagine having a single metric with which our society determines happiness, freedom and personal worth. Every comfort and necessity depends on how many numbers we’ve got stuffed away in a bank account or under our mattresses. Is it any wonder why some people are actually willing to kill for it?  As my legendary high school economics teacher once said, “Rarity is what gives the world value.” Why is gold more sought after than quartz? Why do doctors get paid the big bucks while burger flippers get paid in…well…free b...
